What Every Actor Should Know About Auditioning

Are you really prepared for an AUDITION? 

Do you sometimes wonder why you don't get chosen or picked for the role?

Let me clarify something before we get into this. 

When you attend an audition, don't feel bad when you are not picked for the role, especially if you know that you put your best into it.

Some actors get discouraged when they don't book the job because they didn't get a CALL BACK.

It is not always because you are a bad actor or your audition was horrible. They were probably looking for someone with a different voice, height, body type which mostly depends on the requirement of the script.

Your audition might be amazing but you may not get the job because of the casting directors preference. 

The trick to booking jobs is to keep trying, keep working on yourself and keep studying.

My advice to every actor is, before you start attending all the auditions you can find; please make sure you know the meaning of certain words:

As an actor you have to know the meaning of these words without any confusion at all. It helps you when you stand in front of a casting director.

When he or she says SLATE they expect you to know exactly what to do and not ask them what the word means. They will immediately believe that you are not ready and not serious. 

Your professional headshot and resume should be ready for submission so  they can add you to their list of actors. This is important not just to them but to you as well. They can call you up when there is another opening. 

Since they already have your headshot and resume, it becomes easier and faster for you to be considered before the other actors they have not yet auditioned. 

In my years of experience, I have noticed that a lot of actors walk into the audition trying to act and be like someone else. What they don't realize is that casting directors are trained to spot things like that. 

They are tired of seeing actors who don't bring their own personality and unique talent to the table.

Don't hide who you are. Just believe that you are good enough to play any role the way YOU will like to play it and not the way you think someone else will play it. 

The world is searching for different, unique, bold, new, fresh and intriguing. They are tired of seeing the same things from different people.

Why do you think they decided to go with two BLACK OFFICERS instead?
